Our painting workshops function more as a school in that we teach a very specific, structured method that was developed in late 19th century Paris. And as is the case in learning a proper method of painting, the concepts and practices internal to it are learned gradually and over time. Therefore, our online course is a great way to get regular and personal instruction after, or in between, the live classes taught in Bellagio, Italy, and St. Petersburg, Florida.
Course Description

“Painting As Enchantment: The Authentic Impressionist Method” is an approach to painting passed down from great master artists to their students and from them down to me and now on to you.

This online painting workshop is an integration of text, images, and video that allows students, with a simple click, to move from textual explanation to a video demonstration. Students have access to the material for one full year and can post images and converse with each other. And that’s not all. Jerry, an American Impressionist Society Master, will critique each and every image you post as you work through the assignments. In other words, much like a live workshop, a master artist will direct and guide your study each step of the way.

In this online painting workshop, you will learn how to:

• break the painting process down into 5 stages

• achieve harmony with a full color underpainting

• simplify by reducing everything to 3 values

• not to see the subject but only line and color

• escape into a realm where wonder is revitalized

   

Subscription Fee

The course material consists of 26 complete lessons, 25 video clips and dozens of images and pages of text. Think of it as a book with videos, which may be viewed on computers, ipads/tablets, and smartphones. It is, essentially, the live course online but even more comprehensively articulated. Jerry also adds to it regularly, incorporating live Zoom lectures which are posted as well.

Interactive Course (395 euros/year): This allows you to post images of your work – up to 2 per week – and receive personal direction and critique for one full year. It also gives you access to mini-lectures and group discussions via the platform as well as the growing body of learning material. Everyone in the class is able to view student submissions and Jerry’s critique. But what makes the online course special is that students comment on each others work, and ask further questions of Jerry. So it is really a vibrant community. Subscription can be renewed annually.
