Why choose our painting holiday?
We teach art. We are the only school that focuses on the authentic method handed down directly from the French Impressionists to various Americans such as Sargent, Henri, and Brackman. We actually teach a full comprehensive method. You will learn not only the craft side of painting but also the history and philosophy behind this method of painting.
Classes are small. Because the emphasis is on teaching a proper method, we intentionally limit class size to 7 students. This enables us to spend a good deal of time with each student, at his or her easel, and assess each student’s specific needs. All levels are welcome, even the absolute raw beginner.
We are the only art school based on Lake Como year round. We know the area well, not just in terms of painting sites, but for recreation, lodging and places to eat and relax.
Lake Como is one of the most enchanting lakes on earth. In addition, Lenno is a small charming town with a beautiful promenade, historic villas and a harbor. You will find everything that you would need – food stores, bank, pharmacy, shops, cafes, restaurants – within easy walking distance. You do not need a car. Moreover, there is a ferry dock in Lenno, which means that without driving or taking a bus you can visit just about any place on the lake. There is a reason why many great painters (Leonardo, Corot, Sargent, to mention a few) have worked here and why many of those who can vacation anywhere – George Clooney, Brad Pit, Richard Gere, the Versace family, again to name a few – choose to vacation here.
We attract a diverse group. Students have come from 31 countries, from 5 separate continents and from all walks of life.
We provide all art equipment and supplies. You don’t have to worry about what to buy or bring. You will be able to travel light. For beginners, it’s a great way to start without making a commitment.
