Such a well thought out interesting article. I can’t add to it but thank you for all the food for thought.

  • Good point about being congruent in our art and our lives.
Gurney had a historical take on the word “impressionism” that I saw today in letters from Sargent and Monet http://gurneyjourney.blogspot.com/2013/06/monet-sargent-and-impressionism.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+blogspot%2FNVaYV+%28Gurney+Journey%29

Fascinating history, but to be honest, I didn’t understand Sargent’s definition of Impressionism.
Happily, it appears that Monet didn’t either. Thank you.

Papa Pissaro is my favorite Impressionist. He was a great mentor to the young artists that were struggling to break out of the “mold.” He was generous and kind despite the hurdles and difficulties of his life. Thank you for your metaphorical commentary of corporate control and greed. Will it ever be modified?
PS. Just met my friend Judy Keyani who took your class this summer. After hearing her raves, I will hopefully sign up in 2o14. But first I must spend more time in my studio!
